The Old State House is a historic building in Boston, Massachusetts, located at the intersection of the Washington and State Street. The Old State House was built in 1713, it was the seat of the Massachusetts General Court until 1798, and is one of the oldest public buildings in America. The Old State House is the oldest surviving public building in Boston, and now serves as a history museum operated by the Bostonian Society. Home of the courts - The building's west end was the original home of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the oldest court in the nation. The Court was also involved in the drafting of the Massachusetts Constitution, upon which the United States Constitution is largely based.
